How do I find a tutor near me?
Go to the Find Tutors page, enter your subject and city, then browse verified tutor profiles. You can filter by mode (home visit / online / centre) and budget.
How do I book a session?
After choosing a tutor, click 'Send Request' or 'Book a session'. You'll be taken to the student platform where you can send a direct request (using 1 credit). Once the tutor accepts, contact details are unlocked to begin classes.
Can I try a demo session?
Yes. Many tutors offer a free or discounted first session. Check the tutor's profile for this option before booking.
How do I pay?
You pay the tutor directly yourself. NearbyTutor does not handle or process lesson fees, nor do we take any commission or fee from tutoring sessions. All payment terms, rates, and methods (UPI, cash, bank transfer) are agreed upon directly between you and your tutor.
For tutors
How do I register as a tutor?
Click 'Become a Tutor' in the navbar, or visit the tutor portal to create your profile. Registration is free and takes about 10 minutes.
When do I get paid?
Students/parents pay you directly. You can agree on payment terms, methods, and schedules (e.g., after each session, weekly, or monthly) directly with the student or parent. NearbyTutor does not handle, process, or hold your session fees.
Can I set my own rates?
Yes. You set your hourly rate and it's displayed on your profile. You can update it anytime from the tutor dashboard.
What if a student cancels?
Since NearbyTutor is not involved in lesson scheduling or payments, any cancellation policies, terms, or disputes must be agreed upon and resolved directly between you and the student/parent.
